All About Doll Dr Kathleen

I was raised in Westfield, NJ. I attended Holy Trinity Grammar School, Roosevelt Jr. High, and graduated from Westfield High.

My first job was working on Saturdays with my Aunt Emma McGall, my mother's sister. She was a lawyer in town. I was 9 years old, and my duties included going to the post office, answering the phone, and greeting her clients as they came in the door. It was a great experience for all of us Harrison girls; we all had our turn. I also worked for her during the summers through my teens. That’s when I realized sitting at a typewriter wasn’t for me. My father had told me that I was similar to him and couldn’t be confined in an office setting. You need to love what you do because you are married to it. I took his advice to heart ever since, loving every job I ever had. My profession was a floral designer for many years.

When my children were in school, I started a dried and silk floral business with my dear friend Gwen, where I would design custom floral arrangements for homes. I also worked part-time as a teacher’s aide in several nursery schools. During this time, I did volunteer work for the state as an interpreter for the deaf. This was around the same time I was collecting dolls and repairing them for Social Services to be distributed wherever they were needed.

My second career as a Doll Doctor and Dollologist has been a dream come true. I have loved everything I have done in the past, but this was the ultimate. God puts you where He needs you, and boy, was He right with me.

My husband, Michael, and I live in Marlboro, NJ, where we have a doll repair shop. I love my home state of New Jersey and always enjoy being called a “Jersey Girl.”
